The IC Country Dancers consists of men and women of all ages who come together to dance, perform, teach, learn and just have fun in the Iowa City and surrounding areas. We perform at nursing homes, fairs, town celebrations, parades, and sporting events. We were founded in 1995.
The club hosts a dance that is open to the public every Thursday from 7pm to 10:30pm at the Eagles Lodge, 225 Highway 1 West, Iowa City, with lessons from 7:00 to 7:30pm. Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:15pm before the dance. We have a potluck meal during the meeting.
The club has traveling socials where we as a group attend a dance or dance hall in the area. We have even traveled out of state on various trips together. We also volunteer and raise money for the MDA Telethon and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The club has taught Girl Scout troops, hosted dance workshops and much more.
